Comparison
Mixpanel shows you what users did. Micromark tells you whether that is good.
Product analytics is exceptional at describing behaviour in detail. It is not built to tell you whether the behaviour it describes is healthy for a company like yours.
Side by side
| Dimension | Micromark | Mixpanel |
|---|---|---|
| What it gives you | One written verdict — a Mark — answering a single strategic question. | Event-level product analytics: funnels, cohorts, retention curves, segmentation. |
| The question it answers | “Is this working, and what do I do about it?” | “What did users do, in what order, and how many came back?” |
| Depth vs altitude | Strategic altitude. Fewer numbers, resolved into one answer. | Behavioural depth. Many events, sliced any way you need. |
| Benchmarks | Built in — held against your stage, industry, geography and motion. | Internal comparison against your own historical cohorts. |
| Who reads it | Founders and marketing leads who need a decision. | Product and growth teams comfortable building their own analyses. |
| Setup | None. No SDK, no event schema, no instrumentation. | SDK installation and a maintained event taxonomy. |
When each one makes sense
When the question is behavioural and specific: where in the onboarding flow people stall, which cohort retains better, what the third session looks like. Mixpanel answers those precisely, and Micromark cannot answer them at all.
When you have the retention curve in front of you and still cannot say whether it is a good curve. Product analytics is self-referential by design — it compares you to you. Micromark compares you to companies at your stage, in your industry, selling the way you sell, and resolves it into one written answer.
Different altitudes, not competing tools
Mixpanel operates at event level; Micromark operates at strategic level. There is no overlap to resolve and nothing to migrate. Keep the instrumentation exactly as it is — Micromark just asks you for a few of the resulting numbers and tells you what they mean.
Questions people ask
Is Micromark a replacement for Mixpanel?
No. Mixpanel is product analytics infrastructure and captures behaviour at event level. Micromark holds no event data. It reads a small number of aggregate figures and returns one written verdict with benchmarks behind it.
Does Micromark connect to Mixpanel?
Not currently. Micromark asks for the specific figures a question needs rather than ingesting your event stream, which keeps a Mark to about two minutes with no integration work.
What does Micromark add on top of product analytics?
Benchmarks and a verdict. Mixpanel will tell you your month-two retention is 41%. Micromark tells you whether 41% is strong or weak for your stage, industry and motion — and what to do about it.
Can I use both?
Yes, and it is the intended pattern. Use Mixpanel to see what happened inside the product. Use Micromark when you need to know whether the shape of it is healthy.
The closest question to this
Do the customers I win actually stay?
Retention Intelligence reads the same retention story Mixpanel measures — against your segment, not your history.
