Comparison
Looker Studio builds the dashboard. Micromark writes the answer.
A dashboard is a surface for looking. A Mark is a sentence you can act on. The gap between those two things is most of why dashboards go unread.
Side by side
| Dimension | Micromark | Looker Studio |
|---|---|---|
| What it gives you | One written verdict — a Mark — answering a single strategic question. | Custom dashboards and reports built from your connected data sources. |
| The question it answers | “Is this working, and what do I do about it?” | “How do I see all my data in one place?” |
| Who does the interpreting | Micromark does. The verdict is the product. | You do. The dashboard presents; you decide what it means. |
| Benchmarks | Built in — held against your stage, industry, geography and motion. | Whatever you build in yourself, from sources you supply. |
| Build time | None. The question is already designed. | Hours to days per dashboard, plus ongoing upkeep as sources change. |
| Failure mode | You disagree with the verdict. | The dashboard gets built, then quietly stops being opened. |
When each one makes sense
When you need a shared surface: a weekly view the team looks at together, a client report that pulls from six sources, a live board for a launch. Looker Studio is free, flexible, and connects to almost anything. Micromark does not build dashboards and never will.
When the dashboard exists and the question still is not answered. Charts show movement; they rarely settle an argument. If two people can look at the same dashboard and reach opposite conclusions, what was missing was never another visualisation — it was a benchmark and a verdict.
A dashboard and a verdict are not the same job
Keep the dashboards. They are how teams stay oriented week to week. Micromark is for the moment when orientation is not enough and you need a decision — one question, one answer, with the comparison already done for you.
Questions people ask
Is Micromark a dashboard tool?
No, and deliberately so. Micromark produces a written verdict — a Mark — rather than a set of charts. The whole premise is that one clear answer beats a hundred visualisations you have to interpret yourself.
Does Micromark connect to my data sources like Looker Studio does?
Not currently. Micromark asks you directly for the handful of numbers a question needs. That is a deliberate trade: no connectors to configure or maintain, and a Mark in about two minutes.
Why not just add benchmarks to my Looker Studio dashboard?
You can, and some teams do. The work is in sourcing benchmarks segmented by stage, industry, geography and go-to-market motion, keeping them current, and encoding the logic that turns a comparison into a recommendation. That segmented dataset is what Micromark is built around.
Can I use both?
Yes. Use Looker Studio for the shared weekly surface. Use Micromark when a specific strategic question needs settling.
One question, one answer
Is my revenue model fundamentally sound?
Revenue Health reads four signals and resolves them into a single verdict — no dashboard required.
