Comparison
Amplitude measures the product. Micromark reads the business around it.
Amplitude is built to find the behaviour that drives your North Star. Micromark is built to tell you whether the commercial engine surrounding that product is sound — and neither one answers the other one’s question.
Side by side
| Dimension | Micromark | Amplitude |
|---|---|---|
| What it gives you | One written verdict — a Mark — answering a single strategic question. | Behavioural analytics at depth: cohorts, paths, experimentation, North Star tracking. |
| The question it answers | “Is this working, and what do I do about it?” | “Which behaviours drive retention, and which experiment moved them?” |
| Scope | The commercial system: acquisition cost, revenue quality, retention economics, brand. | Inside the product: what users do, in what sequence, and what changed when you shipped. |
| Benchmarks | External — held against your stage, industry, geography and motion. | Internal — your cohorts against your own history and experiment baselines. |
| Who operates it | Founders and marketing leads, unassisted. | Product analysts and growth teams, usually with a maintained taxonomy. |
| Time to an answer | About two minutes. | As long as the analysis takes — the tool is powerful because it is open-ended. |
When each one makes sense
When the question lives inside the product: which onboarding step loses people, whether the new activation flow beat the old one, which behaviour in week one predicts retention in month three. Amplitude answers those with real rigour, and Micromark cannot answer them at all.
When the product metrics look fine and the business still feels off — or the reverse. Amplitude will tell you activation improved eleven percent. It will not tell you whether your payback period is dangerous for a company at your stage, or whether the acquisition cost behind that activation makes the whole thing uneconomic.
Product depth and commercial altitude are different jobs
There is no overlap to resolve here. Amplitude instruments the product; Micromark reads the handful of commercial figures that decide whether the company around it works. Keep the taxonomy, keep the experiments — Micromark asks you for four or five numbers and hands back a verdict.
Questions people ask
Is Micromark an alternative to Amplitude?
No. Amplitude is product analytics infrastructure built on event data, experimentation and cohort analysis. Micromark holds no event data and runs no experiments. It reads a small set of commercial figures and returns one written verdict with external benchmarks behind it.
How is this different from comparing Micromark to Mixpanel?
Practically, the same distinction applies to both: product analytics measures behaviour inside the product, Micromark reads the commercial system around it. Amplitude tends to sit with larger product organisations running formal experimentation, so the gap it leaves is usually strategic rather than analytical.
Does Micromark connect to Amplitude?
Not currently. Micromark asks directly for the specific figures a question needs, which avoids an integration project and keeps a Mark to about two minutes.
We already have a data team. What does Micromark add?
External benchmarks and a stated verdict. A data team can produce any number you ask for; the harder question is whether that number is good for a company at your stage, in your industry, selling the way you sell. That comparison is what Micromark is built around.
The commercial question underneath the product
Is my revenue model fundamentally sound?
Revenue Health reads four commercial signals Amplitude was never built to see.
